Monarch butterflies face an uncertain future. Among the best known butterflies in North America, we admire them for their striking colors and remarkable long distance migrations. Yet their populations, which once numbered in the many millions, are now rapidly disappearing. I created this illustration to share my love for this butterfly and to spread information about how we can all help ensure its future. One action that could greatly help is more planting of native wildflowers, especially native milkweeds which the species depends on during its caterpillar stage.
