Spring arrives in Colorado on the wings of mountain bluebirds returning from their wintering areas in New Mexico and further south. Generally I see the first ones in mid to late March about the same time as the first spring flowers, Nuttall's Violets and Sand Lilies, begin to appear. I combined multiple memories of spring days with these spring harbingers to create this painting.
